What the Abilene Reporter-News liked and disliked: Got to be the shoes Our view 1. Spring break. This started nicely last year, with great weather the week of March 9. Then the COVID-19 cold front blew in and chilled us. The break that never ended ensued. But this year, we enter with optimism. Enjoy this week but be mindful that we re still in a health crisis. And while a break is nice, one week will be enough. 2. Hoop dreams. The Abilene Christian men s basketball team has notched a school-record third straight 20-win season and is tied with two other teams for first place in the Southland Conference standings. This is a blue-collar team that plays great defense and shares the load on offense. They earn each win. ACU will play in the conference tourney, oddly as defending champions from 2019. They surprised us getting to the NCAA Tournament two springs ago. They have a good shot at doing it again.
