The family of a 27-year-old victi, Benson Obodeh, has narrated how members of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), following the orders of a former Lagos Chief Superintendent of Police, Abba Kyari, went from Lagos to Edo to kill him.
According to the family, Obodeh was kidnapped in his home in Edo on May 21, 2015, by the SARS officers, who not only killed the deceased but also stole his money and dumped his corpse in a morgue.
Henry Shobowole escaped during a prison break last October.
They were some of the 1,993 inmates who were freed when thugs attacked two Medium Security Correctional Centres in Benin on October 19, 2020.
The thugs that set them free had capitalised on the nationwide #EndSARS protests that saw hundreds of Nigerians demonstrate against years of police brutality.
The jail breaks forced Edo State governor,
Godwin Obaseki, to impose a state-wide 24-hour curfew in a bid to contain the situation.
The governor also gave ultimatums to the inmates to voluntarily return to their correctional centres or face the full weight of the law.
Four months after the jail breaks, it is understood that hundreds of the inmates are still at large, successfully evading authorities.

A State High Court in Benin City, Edo State, on Friday, Feb 12, sentenced a SARS officer, Joseph Omotosho, to death for conspiring with four other constables, who are currently at large, to kill a car dealer in 2015.
The slain car dealer, Benson Obodeh, 26, was suspected by the police to belong to a criminal gang which allegedly stole a Peugeot car in Lagos.
He was said to have been arrested at his home in Benin City on May 21, 2015, and tortured to death the same day by four police officers. including the SARS officer, Omotosho.
His corpse was dumped at the Specialist Hospital in Benin City, with a different name by one of the officers that killed him.
