86-year-old man dies after head-on crash near Fort Drum gate in Jefferson County

A North Country man died Thursday after a head-on crash near the entrance to Fort Drum in the town of LeRay, according to the New York State Police.
Grant L. Hall, 86, of Philadelphia, Jefferson County, was traveling north on Route 11 at about 12:18 p.m. when he drove past a steady red signal and hit a car driven by Brandon K. Kunz, 28, of Killeen, Texas.
Hall was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. He died at 11:25 p.m., police said.
Kunz was taken to Samaritan Medical Center for injuries that were not life threatening.

The man is expected to live, according to police spokesman Sgt. Matthew Malinowski.
The shooting was reported just before 5:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Thurgood Terrace, Malinowski said.
Officers found several shell casings, according to Malinowski.
The 25-year-old man was taken to Upstate University Hospital by a private vehicle and dropped off at the hospital, Malinowski said.
Officers are investigating the shooting and ask that anyone with information about the shooting call 315- 442-5222.

TOWN OF LERAY, N.Y. (WWNY) - One man was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse after a crash on Route 11 early Thursday afternoon.
State police said two vehicles collided at the intersection of Routes 11 and 781 in the town of LeRay at around 12:15 p.m.
Military police, state police, and Evans Mills Fire and Rescue responded to the scene, where the man in the red car was trapped inside the wreckage.
