Syracuse Crunch clinches Galaxy Cup with 4-2 win over Utica

Syracuse, N.Y. The Syracuse Crunch defeated the Utica Comets and claimed the Galaxy Cup with a 4-2 victory Saturday at the Upstate Medical University Arena.
The Crunch has won the season series against the Comets and taken the Galaxy Cup in each of the last five seasons. Tonight’s win advances the team to 18-9-3-0 on the season and 7-4-2-0 with one game remaining in the 14-game season series with Utica.
Spencer Martin recorded the win as he turned aside 35-of-37 shots in net for the Crunch. Joel Hofer stopped 26-of-30 between the pipes for the Comets. Syracuse went 1-for-2 on the power play and 5-for-6 on the penalty kill.

Crunch roll past Comets, 5-2
The Syracuse Crunch rolled past the Utica Comets, 5-2, today at the Upstate Medical University Arena. Jimmy Huntington and Cole Koepke led the team with a goal and an assist each, while Chase Priskie, Peter Abbandonato and Andreas Borgman contributed goals to advance the team to 16-9-2-0 on the season. The Crunch are now 5-4-1-0 in the 14-game season series with the Comets.
Goaltender Ryan Bednard earned his second consecutive win in net for the Crunch turning aside 36-of-38 shots. Michael DiPietro stopped 27-of-31 between the pipes for the Comets. Syracuse was unable to convert on their one power play opportunity, but went a perfect 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.

Rochester Amerks take 3-1 win over Syracuse Crunch

Syracuse, N.Y. The Syracuse Crunch fell to the Rochester Americans, 3-1, Saturday night at the Upstate Medical University Arena.
Jimmy Huntington scored the Crunch’s lone goal as the team moves to 15-9-2-0 on the season and 6-4-1-0 in the 12-game season series with the Amerks.
Goaltender Ryan Bednard turned aside 18-of-21 shots in his Crunch debut. Stefanos Lekkas earned the win with 32 saves between the pipes for the Amerks. Syracuse was unable to convert on three power play opportunities, while Rochester went 1-for-3.
