The win snaps a two-game skid and advances the Crunch to 11-8-1-0 on the season. Syracuse won the six-game season series against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 5-1-0-0. Crunch goaltender Spencer Martin turned aside 24-of-25 shots. Alex D’Orio stopped 13-of-16 between the pipes for the Penguins. Both teams were unable to convert on two power play opportunities.

Watertown man airlifted to Syracuse hospital after being run over by tractor in Clayton

CLAYTON — The owner of a Watertown paving business was injured Wednesday when a tractor ran over him while he was working on Calumet Boulevard. James Desormeau, owner of TJ Paving & Trucking, was airlifted to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, for treatment of what the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office described as presumed internal injuries. Deputies said that at about 1;45 p.m. Wednesday, they responded to a report that a person had been partially run over by a tractor at 16497 Calumet Blvd. Employees of Mr. Desormeau’s company reported that he had been pinned under the tractor while trying to start it. The tractor lurched forward, partially running over him.

One person airlifted, another sent to hospital after three-vehicle crash in Brownville

BROWNVILLE — One person was flown to a Syracuse hospital and another was taken to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown on Wednesday after a three-vehicle crash shut down Route 12E. The Brownville Fire Department was dispatched to 14335 Route 12E at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday for the crash. Chief Ryan McIntosh said crews found two pickup trucks severely damaged in the middle of the road, as well as a dump truck towing what appeared to be a small backhoe in the ditch. Firefighters and crews from Guilfoyle Ambulance Services converged on the scene and began assisting patients in the vehicles, the chief said. There were two people in one pickup truck, one in the other pickup truck and one in the dump truck.

Man taken to Syracuse hospital after apparently breaking leg in Ellisburg fishing accident

ELLISBURG — A 74-year-old man was taken to a Syracuse hospital after he apparently broke his leg while fishing alongside a creek bank Thursday morning. First responders in Ellisburg and Belleville were dispatched to the creek just behind the fire hall on Route 193. Crews on scene said the man had fallen and gotten his leg stuck between a few rocks along the creek. They were able to get him up and into a South Jefferson Rescue Squad ambulance, which then took him to Upstate Medical University in Syracuse with a possible broken leg.
