BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WAFB) - The Southern womenâs basketball team had an early tip time but that didnât slow down the Lady Jags against Alcorn State in the SWAC Basketball Tournament at Bartow Arena in Birmingham, Ala.
Southernâs Amani McWain was the player of the game, scoring a game-high 16 points and shooting 3-of-5 on 3-pointers. She added five steals and four rebounds
The Lady Jags led for more than 36 of the 40 minutes and by as many as 22 points, even though they committed 27 turnovers.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Southern womenâs basketball team trailed for the first five minutes but dominated the rest of the way, especially the third quarter, to crush Alcorn State at the F.G. Clark Activity Center on Saturday, Feb. 27.

The Lady Jags (9-10, 9-4 SWAC) rolled to a 72-46 win over the Lady Braves (6-11, 6-7 SWAC). Southern led 31-18 at halftime and then scored 29 points in the third quarter to take a commanding 60-35 lead going into the fourth quarter.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Southern womenâs basketball team fought a tough battle against Alabama A&M that ended in a close loss at the F.G. Clark Activity Center on Wednesday, Feb. 24.
The Lady Jags (8-10, 8-4 SWAC) fell 78-76 to the Lady Bulldogs (8-4, 8-3 SWAC).

Genovea Johnson led Southern in scoring with 21 points. She also had five rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Amani McWain added 18 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Nakia Kincey chipped in 17 points, four assists, two rebounds, and two steals.
