Amarillo ISD officials hear presentation on future of Tri-State Fairgrounds

Officials with the Amarillo Independent School District, as well as members of the district’s board, recently heard from representatives from the city of Amarillo regarding the exploration of further development in the area of the Tri-State Fairgrounds, where the district, as well as Potter County, the Amarillo-Potter Events Venue District and the Tri-State Expo Board of Directors, own property.  According to prior reports by the Amarillo Globe-News, city officials want to further develop the area, similar to the downtown development plan, opening the opportunity for more tourism and economic opportunities in that part of town.  For the project, the city’s goal is to make a master plan document, developing plans to further enhance the 104 acres of the fairgrounds and the 24 acres the district owns as well as other area commercial and residential properties over the next 15 to 20 years.

Ready, Set, Vámonos! is designed for families with children who turned four or five-years-old by September 1, 2020 and are not yet enrolled in a pre-k or kindergarten program. The event takes place at 10:00 a.m. at various elementary schools Saturday, February 27.
