Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced that the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, tests would not be given for the 2019-20 school year.
However, as the pandemic continued, TEA made the decision for districts to give the test in the 2020-21 school year, “in order to provide critically important information about individual student learning that teachers and parents can use to help students grow,” officials said at the time.
The results from the 2020-21 STAAR/EOC tests were recently released statewide, giving individuals the chance to see the pandemic’s impact on learning.
