Trump Urges Pence to Send Electoral Results Back to State Legislatures
President Donald Trump called on Vice President Mike Pence to send key battleground states’ electoral results back to state legislatures during the Joint Session of Congress on Jan. 6.
“States want to correct their votes, which they now know were based on irregularities and fraud, plus corrupt process never received legislative approval,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “All Mike Pence has to do is send them back to the States, AND WE WIN. Do it Mike, this is a time for extreme courage!”
Hours before that, Trump said that if Pence “comes through,” Trump will win the presidency, adding that he believes Pence “can send it back” to the legislatures.

Vice President Mike Pence has the ability to overrule the Electoral College vote and can essentially decide the outcome of the presidential election, said Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), coming after Department of Justice lawyers argued Pence is not the proper defendant in the suit.
The DOJ’s lawyers, representing Pence, argued that Gohmert should be filing a lawsuit against Congress, not Pence’s office.
“Under the Constitution, [Pence] has the authority to conduct that proceeding as he sees fit. He may count elector votes certified by a state’s executive, or he can prefer a competing slate of duly qualified electors,” Gohmert’s attorneys wrote in a brief (pdf) on New Year’s Day. “He may ignore all electors from a certain state. That is the power bestowed upon him by the Constitution.”
Rep-Elect on Trump’s Electoral College: ‘No Question in My Mind’ Trump Won
Rep.-elect Burgess Owens (R-Utah) said he will support a challenge to the Electoral College vote, saying there is “no question” President Donald Trump won.
Owens, a former NFL player endorsed by Trump, told the Salt Lake Tribune that he “absolutely” believes Trump won the election: “There’s no question in my mind that I think he won.”
That’s why he said he is joining the effort to challenge the votes during the Joint Session of Congress on Jan. 6. The bid requires at least one House representative and a senator.
Trump Releases Statement From White House After Returning From Mar-a-Lago
President Donald Trump on Thursday, after his return to Washington, released a statement on the progress of “Operation Warp Speed.”
In a video posted on Twitter on New Year’s Eve, Trump made note of the accomplishments of his administration. He didn’t mention election fraud or his challenge to the outcome of the presidential race.
The president touted the development of the CCP virus vaccine under “Operation Warp Speed,” Middle East peace efforts, building up the U.S. economy before and after the pandemic, and more.
Trump started the video by saying: “In the face of great challenges this year, Americans showed incredible grit, strength, tenacity, and resolve.”
