Share This - x Earlier this week, the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court passed pertinent directions to deal with the city s crumbling health infrastructure owing to the exponential surge in Covid-19 cases, specifically on the non-availability of anti-viral drugs Tocilizumab and Remdesivir, oxygen supply, and beds. The division bench of Justices ZA Haq and Amit Borkar passed the orders in a suo-motu PIL, which it had taken up in 2020, soon after the coronavirus outbreak. The court has directed the Collector to have a centralized portal for information on the drug s availability and its procurement. Based on the court s suggestion, the State has decided to set up an oxygen plant in the city.

Maharashtra state has also informed the bench that it has agreed to set up an oxygen plant at Nagpur. A bench of Justices Zaka Haq and Amit Borkar was hearing a suo motu PIL pertaining to COVID-19 crisis in Nagpur.

Consider setting up oxygen plant in city: High court to chief minister Uddhav Thackeray In view of alarming Covid-19 situation in the city and severe shortage of oxygen for patients, the Nagpur bench of Bombay high court on Monday requested chief minister Uddhav Thackeray to set up an oxygen production plant here urgently. “In our view, it wouldn’t be difficult for Maharashtra Government to take immediate action in this regard. We also request guardian minister Nitin Raut to look into this matter and coordinate with the CM. We hope and trust that some urgent decision will be taken in the matter and conveyed to this court,” a division bench comprising justices Zaka Haq and Amit Borkar said, before adjourning the hearing till Tuesday 2.30 pm.
