A new strategic partnership between travel agency network GlobalStar Travel Management and travel technology specialist Snowstorm Technologies is kicking off with the launch of a new online booking and travel management platform, along with a hybrid hotel programme.
Dubbed OneWurld Desktop and available now, the OBT and management offering is designed for use by small and midsize corporate travel users, the companies said. Such users, historically left behind by OBTs designed for large corporate and enterprise users, have become an attractive target market, with providers including TripActions and TravelPerk focusing largely on serving the SME segment.
Meanwhile, the companies new Above & Beyond hybrid hotel programme enables travel buyers to leverage GlobalStar s negotiated rates at more than 35,000 hotels worldwide, through both traditional channels such as GDS and bed banks, as well as direct connections via API powered by Snowstorm s technology.

Organisers of a competition to operate the first carbon-free transatlantic flight have announced its first contenders, sponsors and the technical judging panel.
Sustainability organisation Carbon Footprint’s Freedom Flight Prize is designed to help decarbonise the industry. It is challenging entrants to complete a return trip from London to New York in a 100-plus seater passenger aircraft in 24 hours while releasing zero carbon emissions, with a multimillion-pound prize fund going to the winner.
The first contenders registered include UK-US outfit ZeroAvia and Okulu Aerospace and The ePlane Company, both based in India. The proposed solutions are based on hydrogen and electric-based propulsion systems.

All hotels will be located near one of the four Canadian airports currently accepting international flights. These accommodations are privately owned and authorized by the Government of Canada.
So far, only one Vancouver hotel is on the list the Westin Wall Centre Vancouver Airport in Richmond. However, the current list of hotels is incomplete and will be finalized in the coming days.
Travellers entering Canada by air need to book their hotel for a three-night stay upon arrival. They will also need to provide a negative result for a COVID-19 molecular test taken within a 72-hour timeframe of their scheduled flight.
