G Adventures, the small-group adventure tour operator headquartered in Toronto, has secured an injection of growth capital from private equity firm Certares.
New York-based Certares listed the transaction in the socially conscious tour operator in the investment section of its website.
It is believed that Certares was the lone investor in the transaction. Bruce Poon Tip founded G Adventures in 1990, and refers to himself on LinkedIn as the owner.
“We’re very excited to be partnering with Certares,” Poon Tip said after this article published. “Their belief in us means and lot and will allow us to continue our aggressive growth as we have done for 31 years pioneering community tourism. Certares are champions of tourism, as you know, so its great to be working with them.”

Business expense management company Coupa is no stranger to acquisitions.
In January last year, it acquired Yapta, a price tracking rebooking tool. As Skift noted at the time, more travel tech company acquisitions could be on the cards to help it catch up with Germany’s SAP, which owns Concur.
Later in 2020, Coupa bought Bellin, a treasury management software provider; LLamasoft, an artificial intelligence-powered supply chain design and planning platform; and supplier management software ConnXus.
Skift has learned from sources that Coupa is considering acquiring business travel platform startup Pana, which is itself on a major growth trajectory, having just raised an extra $3.6 million in funding.

London | Prime Minister Boris Johnson looks set to belatedly introduce a system of hotel quarantine for incoming travellers to Britain, which the media is hailing as an âAustralia-styleâ system.
After resisting maximalist border controls for 10 months, the British government is reportedly ready to introduce mandatory 10-day stays in hotels as a fresh pandemic-busting measure.
Britain looks set to follow Australia into setting up mandatory hotel quarantine for at least some arrivals.Â

This regime would include elements familiar to Australians, such as bussing people straight from airports to hotels, and recovering the reported £1500 ($2657) cost from travellersâ own pockets.
