Washington State volleyball ranked 14th in latest AVCA poll

Shelly Hanks/WSU Photo Services The Washington State volleyball team was ranked 14th by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Monday following a weekend sweep over Oregon State. The Cougs (10-2) played in their first match since February 28th after their weekend series against USC was cancelled last week. Cougs making moves this week‼️ | Currently 1st in the Pac-12 standings The Cougs started the weekend off on Friday with a 3-1 victory over the Beavers with the only loss coming in the third set when the Beavers pulled through with a 25-22 win before the Cougs would shut the door with a 25-16 win to give them their fifth straight victory. They then followed that up with a 3-0 victory to complete the sweep on Sunday. The series sweep puts them at the top of the Pac-12 standings with just six matches and three teams left on the schedule.

UCLA also only returns two starters from the 2018 championship team that went 40-4, which includes junior  Megan Muret along with Simo. UCLA won the 2019 NCAA Championship as the No. 2 seed by defeating No. 7 Hawai i 3-2 in the opening round. After that wake-up call, UCLA cruised to its second-straight national title with 3-0 victories over No. 3 Florida State, No. 5 LSU and No. 1 USC (didn t drop a set to the Trojans). The Bruins return their court one duo of Simo and  Abby Van Winkle from 2020 that went 13-2 a year ago (all on court one). Court two also remains intact and consisted of freshman
