The Eye Foundation of America founded by an Indian-American physician, is entering a new phase in its mission of ending avoidable blindness by collaborating with GAPIO (Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin) and AAPI (American Association of Physicians of India Origin).
Eye Foundation of America founder Dr. VK Raju’s crusade for the past four decades has been to achieve his vision of a world without avoidable blindness.
American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin immediate past president Dr. Suresh Reddy has a vision for his future: public office.
The Indian American former AAPI head has announced he is running for a trustee seat in Oak Brook, Ill.
âWith the objective of giving back to the community, utilizing my talents, skills and experiences for the greater good of the community, which has always been my passion, I have decided to run for political office: to be a trustee of my hometown,â Reddy said in a statement announcing his candidacy.
Reddy will be among six candidates running for a trustee seat, of which the town has three openings.

Synopsis
The aim of the immigration task force is to help in issues like support legislation to protect Dreamers and Temporary Protect Status (TPS) recipients, support comprehensive immigration reform, restore due process for immigrants, promote access to Citizenship and integration of AAPI immigrants among other things.
Born into a Tamil-speaking family in New Delhi, his family moved to Buffalo, New York when he was three months old.

Dr. Suresh Reddy, immediate past-president of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, AAPI, declared his run for Trustee of the village of Oak Brook, Illinois, Jan. 27.
He is among the six candidates running to be Trustees for the three openings that are being contested. Voting takes place on April 6.
“With the objective of giving back to the community, utilizing my talents, skills and experiences for the greater good of the community, which has always been my passion, I have decided to run for public office,” Dr. Reddy is quoted saying in a press release.
UNITED NATIONS â India has the world s largest diaspora with about 18 million people born there now living abroad, according to John Wilmoth, director of the UN s Population Division at the Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
Presenting the International Migration Report 2020 Jan. 15, he said that the U.S. was the top host country for migrants with 51 million of them, or 18 percent of the world s total, living there.
The report said that between 2000 and 2020, the size of the migrant population abroad grew for nearly all countries and areas of the world with India experiencing the largest gain of nearly 10 million during that period, going from the third place in 2000 for the number of migrants to the first spot in 2020.
