CEO and entrepreneur Marcus Lemonis is featuring San Diego’s Harbor Drive on the 10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19 edition of CNBC’s “Streets of Dreams with Marcus Lemonis.” Filmed before COVID-19, the hour-long show centers on San Diego’s “blue economy” and features interviews with local waterfront leaders involved in ocean-based businesses. The new primetime series is produced for CNBC by Zero Point Zero Productions with Lydia Tenaglia, Chris Collins and Shawn Cuddy serving as executive producers. Adam Barry is the executive producer for CNBC. Assistant professor of civil engineering to be awarded professionalism award by LEF

Dr. C. Shawn Sun, assistant professor of civil engineering for Louisiana Tech University has been selected to receive the 2021 Engineering Faculty Professionalism award from the Louisiana Engineering Foundation (LEF). Sun has more than 20 years of experience in research, teaching, and professional practice in structural engineering. His research interests include the ultra-high performance concrete, behavior and design of prestressed concrete and steel structures, innovative bridge systems, evaluation of existing concrete structures, and instrumentation and monitoring of structures. Prior to joining Louisiana Tech’s Civil Engineering program in 2017, Sun served as a founding partner and then senior vice president for structural engineering consulting company, eConstruct, LLC, in Omaha, Nebraska.

Industry Comments Support FHWA Proposal on Infrastructure Design Standards Siri Stafford/Getty Images Public comments submitted to the Federal Highway Administration regarding a recent proposal that would allow more flexibility with design standards when repairing highways and interstates reflect an overwhelming show of support from industry groups and transportation agencies. FHWA’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, published in the Federal Register on Nov. 24, garnered 18 comments by the end of December. Specifically, the NPRM proposes revision to the design standards and standard specifications that apply to new construction, reconstruction, resurfacing, restoration and rehabilitation projects on the National Highway System. The comments came from an assortment of transportation industry associations and state departments of transportation.
