SOLANO COUNTY, CA Interstate Highway 80 reopened Tuesday evening after a vegetation fire was sparked by a burning vehicle near the American Canyon Road offramp in Solano County.
The blaze was reported around 5:30 p.m. on westbound I-80 in Vallejo and the California Highway Patrol issued a sig alert because the incident was blocking two lanes.
Units from Cal Fire and local fire departments responded as embers from the initial fire spread to other areas by the freeway and flames got close to power lines, according to the CHP.
Roundabouts have popped up as a possible solution to traffic congestion in yet another Napa County location: Highway 29 through American Canyon.
Instead of facing a gauntlet of traffic lights in the south county, motorists would instead go through a series of potentially six roundabouts.
