CHP: high-speed chase in south Napa County ends with a K-9 bite

For the second time in three days, local law enforcement cooperated in arresting a motorist who led officers on a vehicle chase that ended with a police K-9 subduing the suspect. Monday s incident began at 11:30 p.m. when a Napa California Highway Patrol officer tried to stop a car going over 100 mph on Highway 12/121 at Haire Lane, the CHP said. The driver of the 2003 Infiniti FX45 took law enforcement on a chase over to Highway 29 and south into American Canyon and Vallejo, then back to American Canyon before crashing into a parked vehicle on Canyon Creek Drive, the CHP reported.

Police chase extends from American Canyon to Napa; driver arrested

A 39-year-old driver was arrested Friday night after a high-speed American Canyon-to-Napa pursuit that ended with a crash on Highway 29, according to police. The chase began around 9:49 p.m. after an American Canyon police officer was sent to the Walmart at 7011 Main St. following a report of a theft at the store, according to Sgt. Nicol Dudley. When the officer approached a Ford F-150 mentioned by a caller who reported the theft, the driver sped off onto Highway 29 and headed north toward Napa, running a red light and driving erratically, Dudley said. The pickup later crashed on a center divider at the intersection of Highways 29 and 221 in south Napa, and the motorist, identified as Bret Allan Hatt of Fairfax in Marin County, fled on foot before being detained about 780 feet from the wreck, according to Dudley. The Ford was later reported stolen from American Canyon, she said.

Courtney Teague, Register An elderly woman was shopping at Safeway in American Canyon at 1:15 p.m. Thursday when she was distracted by a female while another female stole her wallet from the shopping cart, police reported. Following the wallet theft, the thieves went on a shopping spree at Target in  South Napa Market Place in Napa at approximately 1:36 p.m., American Canyon police said. The suspects used two stolen credit cards to purchase $700 in gift cards. Additionally, the elderly victim lost over $400 in cash and stimulus checks she just received, police said.
