American Canyon police looking for people who scammed an elderly shopper

Courtney Teague, Register An elderly woman was shopping at Safeway in American Canyon at 1:15 p.m. Thursday when she was distracted by a female while another female stole her wallet from the shopping cart, police reported. Following the wallet theft, the thieves went on a shopping spree at Target in  South Napa Market Place in Napa at approximately 1:36 p.m., American Canyon police said. The suspects used two stolen credit cards to purchase $700 in gift cards. Additionally, the elderly victim lost over $400 in cash and stimulus checks she just received, police said. RACHEL RASKIN-ZRIHEN AMERICAN CANYON — Besides the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic that turned 2020 on its head internationally, American Canyon made other news this year, including an election, a tragic fatal shooting in a store parking lot, on-going debate over development along Highway 29, and new ways of making services available safely to boost community morale during unprecedented and trying times. City Manager Jason Holley called 2020 a year for coming together while staying apart for everyone’s benefit. “The turn of events this past year provoked an extraordinary response in American Canyon,” he said. “I am so proud of the community’s perseverance and teamwork when times are tough.”

Napa officers arrest suspected drug dealer from Fremont

A theft arrest at the American Canyon Walmart Friday turned into a drug investigation, the Napa Special Investigations Bureau reported Monday. Siddhartha Suri, 33, of Fremont was arrested by American Canyon Police in the Walmart parking lot after a reported theft, the bureau said.  Suri had several outstanding warrants for possessing narcotics for sale, as well as a warrant issued by the U.S. Marshall s Office for selling dangerous drugs, NSIB reported. Police searched his vehicle and found Fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and Xanax packaged for sale, the agency said in a news release. Suri also had a large amount of cash in his possession, officers said.
