Jose Altuve might have been justified in gloating. Instead, the Astros star too the humble route.
Altuve didn’t have a whole lot to say after his three-run blast carried Houston over the Yankees in an eventual 7-4 victory at Yankee Stadium on Thursday.
Altuve’s homer turned a one-run deficit into a two-run lead in the eighth inning off reliever Chad Green, giving the Astros a 5-3 lead. He hammered it as Yankees fans started their umpteenth “(BLEEP) Altuve” chant of the three-game series. It came off a 96-mph fastball above the strike zone.

Sports Illustrated reports the Houston Astros complained to Major League Baseball about taunting by fans this season. This report comes at a time when New York Yankees fans are absolutely crushing the Astros at Yankee Stadium.
Introducing Yankees Insider:
This week, the Yankees are hosting the Astros for the first time since the disclosure of Houston’s illegal sign-stealing scandal. In 2017 and 2018, the Astros illegally used electronic equipment to steal signs, then communicated with batters by banging loudly on a trash can. The Astros beat the Yankees in the 2017 American League Championship Series on their way to the World Series.

Giancarlo Stanton had four hits and drove in three runs, and DJ LeMahieu hit a tiebreaking infield single with two outs in the sixth inning that turned into three runs for the New York Yankees in a 7-3 victory over the visiting Houston Astros on Tuesday.
It was the first meeting between the teamssince the investigation into the Astros cheating scandal was completed following the 2019 season.
Though the game was played in front of 20 percent of capacity, the 10,050 fans made it sound like a normal full house and did not waste time voicing their displeasure at the Astros, who were revealed to be involved in a sign-stealing scandal in 2017 when the Yankees lost to them in seven games in the American League Championship Series.
