Where is Santa Claus? NORAD launches tracking service on Christmas Eve
By Jordan Smith
For the majority of the year, kids can be sure that Santa Claus is at the North Pole.
Sure, he’ll make an appearance at a local mall or Christmas parade in December. But on Christmas Eve, he could be just about anywhere. Thanks to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), children will be able to find St. Nick’s exact location at any given moment.
As they have done every year since 1965, volunteers will be fielding phone calls (1-877-HI-NORAD) and emails from curious kiddos wanting to find Kris Kringle.

Paul M. Bishop, EADS commander. “I can assure everyone that EADS will do everything in its power to assist Santa with his critical mission.”
Here Is How You Can Track Santa As He Deliver Presents

Santa and his elves are preparing to take flight on Christmas eve to deliver toys to children across the country and the world.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD, tracks Santa and his flight around the world every year. NORAD has been tracking Santa for 65 years, but the real story started back in 1955 with a misprint in a newspaper.
The tradition began in 1955 after a Colorado Springs-based Sears Roebuck & Co. advertisement misprinted the telephone number for children to call Santa. Instead of reaching Santa, the phone number put kids through to the CONAD Commander-in-Chief s operations hotline. The Director of Operations at the time, Colonel Harry Shoup, had his staff check the radar for indications of Santa making his way south from the North Pole. Children who called were given updates on his location, and a tradition was born.
