NFB and Uber settled the class action case in 2016.
In its press release to announce the class action settlement, NFB proclaimed it had reached a Groundbreaking Settlement to End Discrimination Against Blind Uber Riders Who Use Guide Dogs.
Under the class action settlement agreement, Uber was responsible for making sure its drivers knew that blind customers with guide dogs could not be denied service under the ADA even on the ground of allergies or religious objections.
The agreement required Uber to terminate drivers who knowingly refused to transport a rider because of their service animal.
In the years since 2016, it has become apparent that the settlement agreement did not resolve all such discrimination.

“The goal of the accessibility advisory commission is to create a more inclusive Williamsport by ensuring that all residents have access to programs and properties.”
That’s a draft mission statement for the city’s new Accessibility Advisory Commission, created in the past year by City Council as it strives to come into compliance with Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
Newly seated, the commission members are in the early stages of discussion and study of city government facilities.
Sparked by unmet ADA mandates and protests over accessibility issues in City Hall prior to the coronavirus pandemic, this commission will be exploring areas that have been overlooked in the past. Among their first priorities will be an examination of city parks for “inclusivity.”
CONCORD New Hampshire is offering a third COVID-19 mass vaccination event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon with the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Gov. Chris Sununu announced the Saturday and Sunday, April 10-11 event, which is by appointment only at vaccines.nh.gov using the state s Vaccine & Immunization Network Interface, known as VINI. The state hopes to vaccinate 12,000 individuals at the speedway this weekend with doses being administered 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. both days.
Prior to release to the general public, the state alerted by text and email notification those individuals who earlier qualified due to medical vulnerabilities or who are 50-plus and have not yet scheduled an appointment, or currently have an appointment scheduled in late April or beyond.
