It s Nurses Appreciation Week, and a Texas school has earned a ranking as one of the most affordable places in the country to earn a distinguished degree in nursing. And it can be done online.
Nurses week started on Thursday, May 6th, and runs through Wednesday, May 12th, and stores and restaurants around East Texas have been offering freebies and discounts to healthcare workers to say thanks. And, nurses can get free Crocs this week too. The typical nurse walks five miles in a 12-hour shift, and there are plenty of places this week that will offer some help along the way, whether it s free shoes, extra carbs, or a boost of caffeine.
Picente Delivers 2021 State Of The County Address
Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente delivered his 2021 State of the County Address on Tuesday, addressing post-COVID-19 recovery, revitalization and growth.
“These last 12 months have been challenging for everyone to say the least, but through it all, we channeled our history as a people, determined not to let this or any crisis define us,” Picente said. “Our goals and vision should not be based on how this pandemic will impact us, but rather how we will continue to invest, build and grow a better Oneida County for generations to come.”
Picente say Oneida County will receive more than $149 million in American Rescue Plan Funding.
National Health Officials Say Time for Indoor Masks To Go Away?
Don t be surprised in the next month or even weeks if we see many states and cities lifting their indoor mask use requirements.
Former FDA Chief Dr. Scott Gottlieb recently said (on CBS s Face the Nation) it s time to re-examine and even possibly lift many (or even most) indoor mask mandates.
Gottlieb and other national health officials cite the number of vaccinated people, lower case rates and other positive factors in dozens of cities and states across the country.
Even the CDC is believed to be considering this. And although his advice is met with various levels of either mocking or belief, even Dr. Fauci is said to be receptive to the idea.
