ATLANTA – Two Emory Healthcare ambulatory surgery centers have been named in
Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers 2021, which analyzes over 4,300 centers in the 25 states with the most facilities.
Among the 400 centers awarded in
Newsweek’s rankings for the state of Georgia.
Newsweek determines its rankings in collaboration with global research firm Statista. Each ambulatory surgery center receives a score based on peer recommendations and reputation – including quality of care and COVID-19 response assessments – and medical key performance indicator (KPI) data provided by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Ambulatory surgery centers operate exclusively for the purpose of providing surgical services to patients not requiring hospitalization and in which the expected duration of services would not exceed 24 hours following an admission.

NHRMC Physician Group Endoscopy Center recognized by Newsweek
The NHRMC Physician Group Endoscopy Center has been named to Newsweek’s list of America s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers 2021, as well as ranked third in North Carolina among those recognized on the list.
Newsweek partnered with global research firm Statista to recognize 400 centers in the 25 states that have the most facilities. Newsweek noted the list was developed based on the quality of care, performance data, peer recommendations and how the facilities responded to COVID-19.
“We are pleased to see our team recognized for our efforts to provide quality, patient-centered care,” said Dr. Michael Mastrangelo, medical director of the Endoscopy Center.
Eastern Pennsylvania Endoscopy Center Awarded Top Pennsylvania Ambulatory Surgery Center by Newsweek Magazine
Newsweek recently named Eastern Pennsylvania Endoscopy Center (EPEC) as one of America’s Best Ambulatory Surgical Centers of 2021. Newsweek partnered with research firm Statistica to compile the list, which features the top 400 ambulatory surgical centers in the 25 states that have the most ambulatory facilities.
Experts and survey participants took into consideration quality of care, performance data and peer recommendations relative to in-state competition. How facilities were responding to the threat of COVID-19 also was taken into consideration.
“At EPEC we’ve taken every precaution to ensure that our patients receive the quality care they need in a safe, dedicated outpatient setting, so there is no reason to put off potentially lifesaving procedures like colonoscopy,” says Anthony Auteri, MD, Chief, LVHN Division of Gastroenterology.
