Nevada marching band to attend first-ever Bands of America Grand Nationals Competition

Brittany Carloni is IndyStar s new Carmel and Westfield reporter

I’m a Midwestern girl at heart. I was born and raised in Wisconsin on the southside of Milwaukee where my parents made newspapers a daily part of my life.  Nearly every morning before school, I poured syrup over two Eggo waffles and read the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel at the kitchen table alongside my dad.  That foundation is part of what led me to study journalism. I graduated with a degree in the subject from Marquette University in 2017.  For the last four years, I lived in Naples, Florida, covering local government as a reporter for the Naples Daily News.  I learned how to write about land use and zoning cases. I covered pension decisions and how they affected the budget in the city of Naples.

Meet Brittany Carloni, IndyStar s new Carmel and Westfield reporter

Meet Brittany Carloni, IndyStar s new Carmel and Westfield reporter Brittany Carloni, Indianapolis Star I first visited Indianapolis as a senior in high school in 2012. That fall, my classmates and I rode buses from the suburbs of Milwaukee to Indy for the Bands of America Grand National Championships marching band competition.  I played the keyboard in the Greendale High School band and spent a whirlwind couple of days in Indy rehearsing and exploring. It all culminated in a performance on the field at Lucas Oil Stadium.  I’m a Midwestern girl at heart. I was born and raised in Wisconsin on the southside of Milwaukee where my parents made newspapers a daily part of my life.
