A year after the Covid-19 outbreak and two months, which recorded a sharp decline in cases across the country, the pandemic is rearing its head again. Initially, it appeared that the infection was only picking up in Maharashtra and Punjab, which accounted for a large majority of Covid-19 cases. However, according to data, eight states account for a majority of daily Covid-19 cases, close to 85 per cent, indicating at strong resurgence of second wave of infections in India. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the country is witnessing a resurgence in infections in March, after two months when the infections plummeted across the country.

Delhi residents visiting the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar have been advised to undergo RT-PCR test for COVID-19 on their return and self-monitor their health. In an advisory, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has asked people attending the congregation to take extra precautions and follow COVID-19-related instructions issued by authorities.
Retailers Association of India (RAI) has appealed to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to consider prioritising vaccination for the frontline retail workers who face hundreds of people in the course of dispensing their duties and run the risk of getting infected. In a submission to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, RAI expressed that the hard work, struggles, and risk of retail frontline workers must also be appreciated along with the frontline workers of the medical and the law enforcement staff. Just as the healthcare staff, front-end employees of retail stores have risked their lives to serve citizens during the peak of the pandemic by keeping their stores open ensuring that citizens had access to essential items. They are continuing the relentless effort even today.

New Delhi [India], March 15 (ANI): The central government on Monday opposed a PIL in Supreme Court seeking prioritisation of judges, lawyers and judicial staff in COVID-19 vaccine administration and said, it may not be desirable to create a separate class consisting of judges, lawyers, and court staff below the age of 45 for administering the COVID-19 vaccine on a priority basis. It may not be desirable to create a separate class consisting of lawyers and others below 45 years of age discriminating persons engaged in other trade, profession or business and working under similar geographic conditions and circumstances as such a classification would necessarily lead to discrimination, read the affidavit filed by Manohar Agnani, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
