(MENAFN - KNN India) 15 Food Processing units are operational in Assam: Rameswar Teli New Delhi, Feb 17 (KNN) Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Rameswar Teli has said that presently 15 Food Processing units are in operation in Assam with a project cost of around 200 crores. He said this during a meeting of stakeholders on food processing organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries in partnership with the Assam government at Guwahati. Rameswar Teli in his speech highlighted that the Ministry of Food Processing Industries has been allocating 10 per cent of its budget for implementation of its schemes and programs in the North Eastern Region for the development of the Food Processing Sector, as per the policy of the government in line with the priorities of the sector.

Thursday, 18 February, 2021, 13 : 00 PM [IST] Our Bureau, New Delhi Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, Narendra Singh Tomar chaired two Inter-Ministerial Approval Committee (IMAC) meetings through video conference to consider the proposals received under the Scheme for Creation for Infrastructure for Agro-Processing Cluster (APC) and the scheme for Creation / Expansion of Food Processing and Preservation Capacities (CEFPPC) under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY). Minister of State, Rameshwar Teli was also present in the meeting. The promoters of the projects also participated in the meeting through video conference. The proposals for projects approved in the IMAC meetings are expected to increase the level of processing and value addition of horticultural / agricultural produce, which will result in increase in the income of the farmers and create employment at the local level.
