Virtual learning project starts in 200 ICT schools

The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday between the Federal Directorate of Education and Google and Tech Valley to make Islamabad the benchmark of digitally enabled government schools.
A spokesperson said that under this initiative, in the first phase, Tech Valley will install google workspace on cloud-based infrastructure in 200 boys and girls schools of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) while Google will provide tools to the schools for distance education along with chrome books.

FDE, Google and Tech Valley Sign MoU to Digitize Schools in Islamabad
The Federal Directorate of Education, Google and Tech Valley, on Monday, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to transform all schools in Islamabad into ‘Digital Schools’ to fulfill the government vision of ‘Digital Pakistan.’
In the first phase, Tech Valley will deploy cloud-based infrastructure-based Google Workspace in 200 schools (male and female) in Islamabad, while Google will provide schools with tools for distance learning and Chromebooks. In the second phase, all teachers will be given virtual training on how to use and utilize these tools. The initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education is aimed at ensuring the professional development of teachers and students.
Federal govt decides to vaccinate teachers

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In a well-throughout strategy, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has decided to vaccinate teachers against COVID-19 on fast track basis.
This decision has been taken in consultation with the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) to ensure the elimination of disruption in the education sector and reduce learning losses.
In a statement, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training said that the federal government has decided to support the education sector through targeted vaccination of its teaching and support staff.
Govt Extends Closure of Schools & Colleges
The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has announced that the educational institutes will remain closed for another week. FDE has extended the ongoing closure of Islamabad-based schools and colleges until May 23.
After a week-long lockdown from May 8 to May 16, all workplaces and transportation services have resumed operation.
Dawn quoted an official at the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training saying that despite no directive from the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) and the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference (IPEMC), FDE went ahead and issued a notification to maintain the closure of educational institutions from 17-23 May.
