CDWP green-lights two projects
ISLAMABAD:
The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Tuesday cleared two development projects at a cost of Rs3.37 billion and recommended three schemes worth Rs402.305 billion to the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec) for further consideration.
The meeting, chaired by Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, discussed projects related to governance, physical planning and housing, transport and communication and education.
During the meeting, a project related to governance titled “Establishment of Public Financial Management Unit (PFMU) and Programme Support Unit (PSU) in Finance Department and Planning and Development (P&D) Board respectively under Punjab Resources Improvement and Digital Effectiveness (PRIDE) Programme” worth Rs86.78 million was recommended to Ecnec. ISLAMABAD: The quorum syndrome continued to hit the proceedings of the National Assembly on Friday after the opposition parties staged a walkout while expressing dissatisfaction over the reply of the parliamentary secretary to the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training for not agreeing with their suggestion to delay the board exams.
Following the walkout, PMLN legislator Sheikh Fayazuddin pointed out the quorum and after the count was made, Speaker Asad Qaisar adjourned the house till Monday.
Earlier, raising the issue of delay in the board exams, PMLN legislator Khwaja Saad Rafique said the issue to delay the board exams was raised on Thursday and the speaker had directed arranging a meeting with the Education minister. Private printing of model textbooks allowed

Islamabad: The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has decided to allow the interested private publishers and educational institutions to print the model textbooks on the Single National Curriculum (SNC) for Grade Pre-I-V free of charge under a short agreement.
The decision was taken by federal education minister Shafqat Mahmood to facilitate the private publishers and educational institutions.
According to the ministry, these model textbooks on SNC were developed by the National Curriculum Council (NCC) and written by the authors selected through a competitive process.
These model textbooks have been reviewed by the experts from across Pakistan. The textbooks are age appropriate, child-centred, activity based and aligned with culture and values of Pakistan. These textbooks promote critical, analytical and creative thinking.
