ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser on Thursday asked the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training to discuss the proposals regarding the Intermediate students exams with the opposition lawmakers.
NA Speaker said he will personally coordinate a virtual meeting of the ministry and legislators to discuss the issues related to the Intermediate students exams.
The issue came to the House despite multiple statements from the federal government that the exams will be held on time and there will be no cancelation this time.

ISLAMABAD: COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted learning for approximately 40 million students across Pakistan, according to findings from Unicef-led rapid assessment.
The assessment done for the Ministry of Education reveals that 83 per cent of urban based teachers and 87 per cent of rural based teachers failed to reach their students for academic purposes and learning at the time when schools were closed.
Also, majority of parents were also concerned regarding their children not getting any learning from the schoolteachers during the time of lockdowns.
A top government official, who wished not to be named when reached by this correspondent, said that the study was done in August 2020, and was the only one of its kind. No other study was carried out by the authorities, added the official.

NAVTTC gets new executive director

Islamabad: Sajid Baloch a BS-21 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) has been posted as Executive Director, National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.
Sajid Baloch) has 26 years’ experience of working in public sector and development sector, including United Nations. Previously he has served as Registrar, Islamabad High Court, Financial Advisor / Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance, and Director General, BISP (Benazir Income Support Programme) and Director General Basic Education.
He has a reputation as a competent, public-friendly and honest officer and a good administrator.
MoU inked for training of TVET leaders, instructors

Islamabad: National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) under the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training is providing latest technological skills to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) leaders and instructors in its efforts to affiliate/accredit Pakistani institutes with reputed international organisations. For this NAVTTC has signed a MoU with world renowned Institute of Technical Education Services (ITEES) Singapore. For the first batch of TVET leadership training Singapore’s Temasek Foundation will be providing funding for training by Singapore ITEES.
It is pertinent to mention that NAVTTC is establishing 75 high-tech skill centers across Pakistan for providing the latest technological skills to Pakistani youth.
