BANGI: The Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities officials are expected to meet the Belgian Ambassador to Malaysia on commodity issues in early May.

pix) said the meeting is not necessarily confined to palm oil issues but could also be a platform for the ministry to discuss matters related to other national commodities, including cocoa.
“The Belgian Ambassador has requested to meet me but due to time constraints, our meeting will be held when I pay a courtesy call on the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Melaka in early May,“ he told reporters in conjunction with the pre-launch of the MPOB Technology Transfer Seminar and Exhibition here today.

KUCHING, April 17 The federal Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities have outlined several proposals meant to boost these sectors in Sarawak.
Minister Datuk Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali said the proposals would include Sarawak’s black pepper, commercial cultivation of bamboo in Bintulu, as well as the involvement of more local farmers and entrepreneurs in the cocoa industry, with a focus on chocolate-manufacturing.
This was highlighted during a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here yesterday.
KLUANG (April 12): The government through the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities will be focusing on selling Malaysian palm oil to East and West Asian countries following high demand from those areas.
Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng said among the countries that had increased their palm oil purchases are Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and several countries in Southeast Asia.
“Saudi Arabia that imported 300,000 tonnes Malaysian palm oil per year previously has increased its purchase to 500,000 tonnes, while Afghanistan doubled its purchase to 150,000 tonnes per year,” he told reporters during a visit to the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) research station near here today.
