The Divulapitiya, Peliyagoda and Prisons triple COVID-19 cluster that emerged on 4 October expanded to 33,954 patients with 364 persons testing positive for the virus yesterday.
According to the Department of Government Information, patients detected yesterday include 364 associates of the Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster.
The total number of patients detected in the island is 37,631, and the patients include 1,632 Sri Lankan returnees from abroad, 950 Navy personnel and their close contacts, 651 persons linked to the Kandakadu cluster and 126 foreigners.

COLOMBO (News 1st): The report compiled by the Committee of Specialists on COVID-19 Vaccine will be handed over to Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle, the State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics, and Covid Disease Control, on Wednesday (Dec. 16).
The report will contain recommendations on the best vaccine for COVID-19 available at present, the method of administration of the vaccine, clinical tests conducted on the vaccine, which is to be purchased, and other concerns, Dr. Amal Harsha De Silva, the Secretary to the Ministry of Primary Health Care, Epidemics, and Covid Disease Control said.
According to Ministry Secretary – Dr. Amal Harsha De Silva based on the report, a decision will be reached on rolling out the vaccine once available.
