The second Brunei Darussalam Islamic Capital Market Conference (BICAM) will take place on June 2-3, said the Brunei Institute of Leadership and Islamic Finance (BILIF) in a statement yesterday.
The conference is organised with the collaboration of the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), Malaysia and the support of Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD).
It will also be held during the first week of the Brunei-Mid Year Conference and Exhibition (MYCE), an event organised by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT), with the theme ‘Islamic Week’.
The conference objectives include discussing issues and challenges in the development of the Islamic capital market, especially in the context of Brunei Darussalam as well as strategies in promoting resiliency, sustainability and inclusivity of an Islamic capital market ecosystem, said BILIF. An irrigation system capacity expansion, project improvement and upgrading of Betumpu Agriculture Development Area’s (KKP) Farm and Flood Mitigation worth BND6.5 million will be carried out by Seri Ghanimi Contractor Sdn Bhd after the signing of contract between the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood under the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) with Seri Ghanimi Contractor Sdn Bhd yesterday.
Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, the guest of honour, witnessed the signing.
Legislative Council member and Village Head of Kampong Limau Manis Yang Berhormat Haji Mohimin bin Haji Johari @ Jahari, Permanent Secretary at the MPRT Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab, deputy permanent secretaries and heads of departments under the MPRT also attended.

The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) through the Agriculture and Agrifood Department is looking to increase the capacity of veterinary laboratory services in the country – especially to meet international guidelines such as Environmental Health and Safety; International Standard of ISO/IEC 17025; and OIE Veterinary Services – by building a new Centre for Research, Analysis and Reference of Livestock Diseases at agriculture development sites in Terunjing.
Construction cost is estimated at BND6.5 million, under the 11
th National Development Plan Project of the Title of the Livestock Industry Development Plan towards increasing production from BND106.8 million 2015) to BND300 million (2020).
