Centre approves Rs 3,113.05 cr as additional assistance to 5 States, UTs ANI | Updated: Feb 13, 2021 12:13 IST
New Delhi [India], February 13 (ANI): The High-Level Committee (HLC) under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah has approved additional central assistance under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to five states, which were affected by floods, cyclones (Nivar and Burevi) and pest attack last year.
According to an official statement issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday, the HLC has approved additional central assistance of Rs 3,113.05 crores to five states and union territories from the National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF). Andhra Pradesh has been allocated Rs 280.78 crores while Bihar has been granted Rs 1,255.27 crores for floods during southwest Monsoon, the official statement read.
Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday said that the pilot project for new design modular fencing on the India-Pakistan border in Punjab has been completed in March 2020.
Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai made the revelation on a question by BJP MP Shwait Malik in Rajya Sabha on what measures have been taken up by the government for the progress of pilot project operational for the security of India-Pakistan border in Punjab? The Pilot Project for New Design Modular Fence along Indo-Pakistan Border in Amritsar, Punjab has been completed in March 2020, Rai responded.
The project was approved in 2019 to replace the existing old design of composite fencing with a new anti-cut and anti-rust modular fencing in 7.18 kilometres India-Pakistan border length in Amritsar.
