PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department on Thursday initiated an inquiry against the former district health officer (DHO) Mardan Dr Kachkol Khan and his team for allegedly selling the Covid-19 vaccine and injecting distilled water into the elderly people who came for vaccination.
People had lodged complaints on the Prime Minister’s Citizen Portal and also informed Dr Faisal Sultan, advisor to the prime minister on health, about the mismanagement in use of the coronavirus vaccine and its alleged sale to irrelevant people in Mardan.
Dr Faisal Sultan had directed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for conducting an inquiry into the complaints and also recommended disciplinary action against the DHO.
MPAs lead protesters ransacking Peshawar hospital

PESHAWAR: Accompanied by two MPAs, the relatives of a boy, who succumbed to his injuries at the Hayatabad Medical Complex late Friday night, ransacked the health facility.
An official said a young boy identified as Umar hailing from Jamrud was brought to the hospital where he died. The official said the relatives staged a protest and ransacked the properties. One MPA from Khyber and another female MPA from Peshawar led the protesters. A police official said they were investigating the matter after they were approached by the authorities.

PESHAWAR: Taking notice of the alleged misuse of Covid-19 vaccine in Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Takht Bhai, the Health Department on Saturday suspended the services of district health officer, Mardan, and two others and ordered an inquiry into the matter.
Health Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra posted on his Twitter handler: “After receiving reports of misuse of Covid vaccine in Takht Bhai, district Mardan, we have taken immediate action. DHO Mardan has been relieved of his post with immediate effect. He will be suspended and an inquiry initiated. Two additional individuals have also been suspended.”
Serious irregularities in the process of administering Covid-19 vaccines have been reported in Takht Bhai. Some reports suggested that the actual vaccines were sold in the open market and mere distilled water was used to vaccinate the people, mostly women.

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to allow members of the Board of Governors (BoG) to continue their work till the approval of a new board for the Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH).
It was a surprise to the majority of the doctors as well as government officials as all members of the BoG had resigned a day earlier. The government issued a notification after the chief minister accepted their resignations.
However, the Health Department on Tuesday issued another notification, saying “the competent authority while accepting resignations of the board of governors, is pleased to allow the existing board to continue its work till the new board or members are appointed or selected.”
