PeaceHealth is in the process of tearing down four unused buildings on its University District campus and is remodeling its lobby space to relocate some services there.
The demolition is being done in order to clear out empty and outdated buildings, some of which have been vacant for more than a decade, according to the hospital’s chief administrative officer, Alicia Beymer. It also will allow for more space and sunlight coming throughout the University District campus, she said.
The removal process is expected to take 15 months and has an estimated cost of $5.5 million, while the renovation of the lobby space will cost an estimated $990,000, Beymer said.
