Save Edo state tertiary institutions from sting

The most important benefit of Education is to produce manpower, people with skills and high level of logical thinking and imagination to proffer solutions to problems in their society.
But in our society, education, particularly, higher education is an escape route from poverty. That again underscores the importance. It is the responsibility of government to open more opportunities to get education to the doorstep of all citizens.
As we critically take a survey of the state of tertiary institutions in Edo State, we admonish everyone to temporarily suspend judgement until evidence compel otherwise.

I’ll take every step to reposition AAU, says Obaseki

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo on Monday assured that his administration would take all steps to reposition the state-owned Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma.
Obaseki gave the assurance shortly after he signed into law, a bill that empowers the visitor to AAU the powers to intervene in any crisis witnessed in the university.
He said “I want to thank you for the support you have shown by passing the amendment to the Ambrose Alli University act of 1999, empowering the visitor to intervene with the aim of repositioning Ambrose Alli University.

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has urged students of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, to support ongoing reforms to reposition the institution. The governor said this during a courtesy visit by the executives of the Student Union Government (SUG) led by the President, Osamagbe Eghobamien at the Government House in Benin City.

The student of Kings College in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Kelvin Eze, who was kidnapped by gunmen that attacked the school, has regained freedom.
Spokesman for Operation Safe Haven, Major Ibrahim Shittu, in a statement on Sunday said Eze was rescue by the troops on Saturday.
Recall that during the attack on the school on Thursday, the gunmen abducted two students but one of them was rescued after a gun battle with security operatives.
The statement said, “Troops of Operation Safe Haven on Saturday, May 1, 2021, around 8.35pm rescued a student of Kings College, Mr Kelvin Eze who was kidnapped by bandits on April 28, 2021.
