It is too early to say anything (on Kappa variant). When we tracked the patient s medical history, we found that he experienced a very high fever and breathing difficulty in a very short span of time. NITI Aayog Member (Health) Dr V K Paul said that Kappa strain was also found in India in the months of February and March, however, it was suppressed after Delta variant became dominant, PTI reported.

Lucknow: After two cases of the Delta plus strain were found in Deoria and Gorakhpur, a patient has now tested positive to the Kappa strain of Covid-19 in Sant Kabir Nagar.
The patient, a 66-year-old man, has died.
The strain was detected during the genome sequencing exercise.
The patient s sample was collected on June 13 as a routine and sent to CSIR s Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, New Delhi that has confirmed the Kappa strain in the sample.
