Reader Fiona Brosnan used our Artists in the Countryside column series to help boost the confidence of her talented artist friend, Ann Marie Gammell.
Anne Marie painted Fiona a beautiful picture of her son and father in Carrownagappul in Mountbellew where she is from.
Describing the artwork Fiona told us: “You can almost feel the bog from touching the canvas. My son cried when he saw it and it made us all feel a connection to family.
“I live in Kerry so this has brought us joy to look at it as we look forward to the day when we can visit Galway again. Ann Marie has yet to be discovered and I am so thankful of her kind gift to me and my family. I have a print for my dad for when we next meet.”

Former Debenhams workers in Waterford city have a “knot in the pit of their stomach” over how their longstanding picket will end.
Liquidator KPMG have began packing stock in Waterford, with standoffs having taken place at other stores around the country in recent weeks, including in Dublin and Tralee.
Trade union Mandate has also posted ballots to members for a vote on a fund which would provide retraining to laid off workers.
Former shop steward Michelle Gavin says many of the former staff feel apprehensive about the imminent conclusion. “You’d kind of have a knot in the pit of your stomach really because we are waiting for the trucks to come and you would be worried about it,” she told WLR. “But we’ve been here for over 12 months so we’ll see it out and stand our ground to the last.”

Councillors in Waterford have voted unanimously in favour of a motion, calling for sanitary products to be made freely available in public buildings.
The motion was put forward by Cllrs Eddie Mulligan and Lola O’Sullivan at this month’s plenary meeting.
It comes as it was announced this week that free period products are being made available to women affected by period poverty by the retailer Lidl.
Stephanie Keating from Helping Hand Waterford, says that the public provides them with sanitary products to tackle period poverty in Waterford.
“We put out appeals saying we need dry food or non-perishable food or else we could put out an appeal saying we need some toiletries.
