Improving the safety of maternity units and implementing recommendations made as part of an inquiry into baby deaths will reportedly cost £400 million per year. The Ockenden Review into baby deaths at a scandal-hit NHS trust said maternity staff had caused distress to patients by using “inappropriate language” and blaming grieving mothers for their loss. And yet, there’s a lot of noise at the moment about said vaccine and the lack of research on how it affects women’s fertility. There have been mixed messages. Doctors maintain that there is no scientific evidence to show that the vaccine can impact fertility, with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) addressing the ‘misinformation circulating’ in a recent statement.
