The RCMP in Nova Scotia will investigate a complaint from a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officer alleging political interference by former justice minister Andrew Parsons.
In a press release Monday afternoon, the Newfoundland and Labrador RCMP announced it would turn over a Dec. 11 complaint from Joe Smyth to their Nova Scotian counterparts.

A woman is dead following an incident that occurred New Year’s Day morning in Outer Cove.
The RNC and the St. John’s Regional Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle accident on Marine Drive.
Reports indicate a vehicle broke through the guard rail and landed on the rocks near the edge of the water. The Coast Guard was called in to assist with the incident.
Emergency Crews deployed a crane to assist in the recovery of the victim and the vehicle. The woman was the lone occupant of the vehicle.
The road was closed during the police investigation, but reopened around 5 p.m. Friday evening.

Police are investigating the death of a 23-year-old man believed to have been driving a dirt bike that was involved in an accident overnight Wednesday.

Police are investigating the death of a 23-year-old man believed to have been driving a dirt bike that was involved in an accident overnight Wednesday.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was called around 8 a.m. Thursday about a dirt bike accident near Station Road in Conception Bay South.

When the 10 correctional officers charged in the death of an Inuk man at a jail in St. John s face a judge for the first time in February, Gordon Wheaton says he d like to be there.
Wheaton is a former inmate of Her Majesty s Penitentiary, the jail in which Jonathan Henoche was killed on Nov. 6, 2019. He said he spent two days with Henoche in a cell in the jail s special handling unit in 2018.
Abuse is commonplace at the provincial penitentiary, the result of a justice system that does more harm than good, he said in an interview Tuesday.
