300 more oxygen beds added to Perundurai government hospital Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA Oxygen beds established on the Government Erode Medical College Hospital premises at Perundurai in Erode on Friday.   With the demand for patients requiring oxygen going up in the past three weeks, 300 more oxygen-supported beds have been added to the existing 550 beds at the Government Erode Medical College and Hospital at Perundurai here on Friday. Minister for Housing and Urban Development S. Muthusamy inaugurated the facility on the hospital premises in the presence of Collector C. Kathiravan, Superintendent of Police P. Thangadurai, and Dean R. Mani. Addressing media persons, Mr. Muthusamy said that since patients from other districts were coming to the hospital for COVID-19 treatment, there was an urgent need for adding more beds. On Sunday, health department officials received information that many villagers were suffering from fever after which a health team from the Upgraded Primary Health Centre at Talavadi visited the village. However, villagers are reluctant for swab tests and stayed indoors. Officials of the health and revenue department pacified them after which 630 samples were lifted from 5 p.m. to 11.30 p.m. and sent to the laboratory at Government Erode Medical College and Hospital at Perundurai. On Tuesday, test results were declared in which 109 persons tested positive. All were shifted to Covid Care Centres at Talavadi.

CM to inspect oxygen manufacturing plant at Perundurai SIPCOT Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is scheduled to inspect the oxygen manufacturing plant functioning at Sipcot Industrial Growth Centre at Perundurai here on Thursday. Mr. Stalin is expected to arrive from Coimbatore by 2 p.m. and inspect the facility at the National Oxygen Limited, which is a public limited company manufacturing 37 tonne oxygen every day. Oxygen from the plant is supplied to the Government Erode Medical College and Hospital at Perundurai and government hospitals in Salem, Dharmapuri and Coimbatore districts. He would also hold discussions with Collector C. Kathiravan, doctors and officials on the steps taken to curb the spread of virus in the district. Later, he would proceed to Salem to hold consultations with officials.
