Aisha Yesufu, Co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls campaign and activist, has lambasted the Nigerian Government for employing the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, MACBAN, to negotiate the release of the 333 schoolboys abducted from Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State.
Following the release of the schoolboys on Thursday, the Governor of Zamfara State was quoted to have said the state consulted MACBAN and some repentant bandits to negotiate the boys’ release.
The boys, who were kidnapped from the Government Science Secondary School in Kankara, Katsina State on December 11 and ferried to a forest in the state were released on Thursday with no ransom reportedly paid.

A photo released by NAF on December 18, 2020, shows some military personnel involved in the effort that led to the return of the Kankara schoolboys.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has explained the roles it played in efforts that led to the return of the students kidnapped from the Government Science Secondary School in Kankara, Katsina State.
In a post on its verified Facebook page on Friday, the force revealed that it deployed additional air assets, including Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft to Katsina hours after the students were abducted.
According to the NAF, the additional air assets were deployed on Saturday last week to provide persistent surveillance over identified areas of interest within Katsina and Zamfara States.

Buhari met with the 344 students on Friday in Katsina State.
Recall that the students were last week kidnapped by some gunmen said to be bandits.
The students were taken to the bandits hideout in Tsafe, Zamfara State.
The students were said to have been released following the intervention of security personnel and the Miyetti Allah association.

More than 300 schoolboys kidnapped last week in an attack on their school in northwest Nigeria have arrived in the capital of Katsina state in celebration of their release.
