Following the abduction and subsequent release of over 300 schoolboys abducted from the Government Science Secondary School in Kankara, Katsina State, Minister of Information, Mr Lai Mohammed has said the development is a testament that Buhari’s government attaches importance to the safety of Nigerians.
The Minister noted that the Federal Government will not rest in strengthening the security system in the country until all Nigerians are safe.
Mr Mohammed gave the assurance at a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday night after news emerged that the Kankara boys had been released.
“Let me be clear, what happened in Kankara and in Chibok and Dapchi before it – is totally unacceptable. Our children should not have to go to school in trepidation. The Federal Government is doing everything possible to secure all our schools, and indeed all Nigerians. We will not relent until all Nigerians can go to bed at night with their two eyes closed,” Lai Moham

Kingsley Chinda, leader of the caucus, made the call at a press conference in Abuja.
Chinda made the call in response to the abduction of students of the Government Science Secondary School in Kankara area of Katsina State by Boko Haram.
He made the call in the company of members of the PDP caucus.
According to Chinda: “The president should be impeached over the growing insecurity in the country.”
Recall that Boko Haram had abducted about 600 students from the Government Science Secondary School in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
On Thursday, the insurgent released a video claiming it has custody of the abducted students.
More than 300 Nigerian schoolboys are now walking free after they were kidnapped from their school in an attack claimed by Boko Haram.
Governor Aminu Bello Masari told state channel NTA on Thursday that a total of 344 boys had been freed. But it is unclear if all the boys were freed.
“We have recovered most of the boys. It’s not all of them,” he said.
The government says no ransom was paid and they negotiated with the kidnappers.
Masari said security forces had cordoned off the area where the boys were being held and were told not to shoot. We thank God that they took our advice and not a single shot was fired, he said.

As soon as he and the other students at the Government Science Secondary School in Kankara realized there was a raid on the school, they scrambled out of their dormitory and scaled the school’s fence in the pandemonium.
The 17-year-old told The Associated Press about the attack on the school in Nigeria’s northern Katsina State in which men armed with AK-47 rifles abducted more than 300 students from the boys’ school. The attack, claimed by Boko Haram, Nigeria’s jihadist rebels, has prompted an outcry in the West African nation against the government for not doing enough to stop attacks on schools in the north.
