Relatives of patients are travelling far and wide to Chennai to get Remdesivir, while a number of them are paying exorbitant rates to get the drugs.

RAVINDRAN The existing one has been witnessing heavy rush The Government Kilpauk Medical College will operate two counters to sell Remdesivir, according to Dean P. Vasanthamani. On Monday, the State Health Department launched a counter at KMC to sell the drug. The Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation set up a counter after people complained of the steep price of the injection in the open market. The drug is administered to people who are on oxygen support. Some people complained that the drug had to be procured from other States, and it was priced as high as ₹20,000. The government is selling the drug at ₹1,560 a pack.

Tamil Nadu health minister Vijayabhaskar while speaking to IANS said, The drug is available at the counter of Kilpauk Medical College with the doctor s prescription of the drug, Aadhar card, RT-PCR positive report and CT report of the patient. This is helping patients and private hospitals on a case to case basis.
