Qatar Government Communications Office statement in response to The Times allegations

Government Communications Office in response to an article published by The Times on 4 June 2021 stated that the article makes serious and baseless claims about Qatar and is predicated on misleading assertions, factual inaccuracies, and bias.
Other media outlets were shown the same falsified information but declined to publish it after determining that it had no factual basis.
Despite Qatar engaging with The Times on these issues, they chose to publish falsehoods, in an apparent abandonment of their journalistic responsibilities.

UPDATE (May 30, 2021): Qatar s Government Communications Office stated that the Public Prosecution charged Malcolm Bidali with offenses related to “payments received by a foreign agent for the creation and distribution of disinformation within the State of Qatar,” but did not reveal additional details about his detention.
(Beirut) - Qatar’s state security services forcibly disappeared a Kenyan labor rights activist, Malcolm Bidali, on May 4, 2021, five human rights and labor rights organizations said today. More than three weeks later, Authorities are still refusing to reveal his whereabouts or explain why he has been detained. In a phone call to his mother on May 20, Mr. Bidali said he was being held in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day and that he had no access to a lawyer.
Public urged to follow precautions during Eid celebrations

Eid Al Fitr celebrations begin today amid COVID-19 restrictions in the country.
The Government Communications Office (GCO) and the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) have urged the people to follow precautions during the Eid holidays.
“It is vital that precautionary measures continue to be followed during the blessed Eid Al Fitr to ensure the safety of our families and society and to support the ongoing efforts of the State of Qatar in limiting the spread of COVID-19,” said GCO on its Twitter account.
It also reminded people to wear masks and maintain social distancing during prayers at the mosques, and that indoor gatherings are prohibited as well as maximum of five fully vaccinated people are allowed to gather outside.
