Engineer Manoj Sinha, who is the second Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, in his article published in Daily Excelsior on 26th April 2021, had very categorically spelled out his priorities when it comes to dealing with pandemic that has caught the world unaware and is causing havoc since past one year. While asking people to be compassionate towards each other in these testing times, he is of the view that in its war against COVID-19, for Union Territory of J&K “every single individual counts”. This says it all about the administration’s priorities and preparedness to deal with the situation but this too has certain limitations.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of increasing number of Covid-19 patients in Thiruvananthapuram, the district administration is enhancing infrastructure to facilitate better treatment. District collector Navjot Khosa has said there is no shortage of oxygen and all measures have been put in place to aggressively combat Covid-19.
The district has 37 Domiciliary Care Centres (DCCs), 17 Covid First-Line Treatment Centres (CFLTCs) and 16 Covid Second Line Treatment Centres. The number of DCCs has also been increased in view of the increasing number of patients.

T.N.’s toll surpasses 14,000; over 10.37 lakh people have been discharged so far after treatment
The State added 18,692 more cases of COVID-19 on Friday, taking its tally to 11,66,756. Another 113 persons succumbed to the infection, taking the toll to 14,046. Active cases touched 1,15,128.
As many as 16,007 people were discharged after treatment, taking the total figure to 10,37,582.
In Chennai, 5,473 people tested positive for the infection, taking the tally to 31,222. As many as 5,327 people were discharged in the district after treatment. It also logged 42 fatalities due to the infection.

Chandigarh, April 30 : With the existing stock of nearly one lakh Covid-19 vaccines to be used for those above the age of 45 years, both for first and second dose, Chandigarh Advisor Manoj Parida said on Friday that vaccination for the new beneficiaries would start only after adequate extra supplies are received. For the new beneficiaries above 18 years of age, vaccination will start only after adequate extra supplies are received. So the vaccination drive for the 18+ population will not start in Chandigarh on May 1, Parida told the media.
