No Injuries Reported In SR-22, Metroliner Midair

No injuries have been reported in a midair collision involving a Key Lime Air SW4 Metroliner and a Cirrus SR-22 over Colorado’s Cherry Creek State Park on Wednesday. According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, there were two people onboard the Cirrus and the aircraft’s whole-airframe parachute was deployed. The only person onboard the Metroliner was the pilot, who was able to land the aircraft at Centennial Airport (KAPA) following the accident.
“About 10:25 a.m. today, the sheriff’s office as well as South Metro Fire began receiving calls of a plane crash near Belleview Avenue and South Cherry Creek Drive,” said Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office deputy John Bartmann. “Deputies responded and found a single-engine plane had collided with another plane midair. The other plane was able to land at Centennial Airport without any issues and without any injuries.”

A mid-air collision occurred on Wednesday as two aircraft approached Centennial Airport near Denver.
A private Cirrus SR-22 and Swearingen Metroliner SA226TC of Key Lime Air were involved.
Both aircraft landed safely, with the Cirrus deploying its parachute and floating to the ground.
Two aircraft were involved in a mid-air collision Wednesday morning as they approached Centennial Airport near Denver, Colorado, the Federal Aviation Administration and Arapahoe County Sheriff s Office said.
One aircraft, a Swearingen Metroliner SA226TC twin-engine aircraft operated by Key Lime Air, was arriving from Salida, Colorado when the collision occurred, FlightAware data shows. Only the pilot was onboard the 43-year-old plane, which was likely performing a cargo flight.

A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said a Cirrus SR-22 with two occupants and a Swearingen Metroliner SA226TC with one occupant collided about four miles north of Centennial Airport about 10:25 a.m.
The National Transportation Safety Board said it appears the collision happened as both planes were in the process of landing.
The pilot of the Cirrus deployed the plane’s parachute and crashed in the park near East Belleview Avenue and South Peoria Street.
There were no fires or fuel spills, the Arapahoe County Sheriff s Office said, and both people onboard walked away from the crash without suffering any injuries.
