Arizona audit: More workers added but who s footing the bill is still unclear Staff Reports Funding for the Arizona Senate-ordered audit of Maricopa County s general election ballots continues without transparency on who is footing the bill, or how much that bill is.  Ken Bennett, the Arizona Senate s liaison, said Wednesday that he doesn t know who is paying for the new workers or equipment being brought in to speed up the recount. He also said he doesn t know who is paying StratTech, the Scottsdale-based company that took over management of the recount this week after Pennsylvania-based Wake Technology Services, Inc. didn t renew its contract May 14.

Republicans lingering obsession with Trump will hurt them in 2024 Kimberly Ross © Provided by Washington Examiner More than seven months after the 2020 presidential election, a majority of Republicans polled still refuse to accept the outcome as legitimate. According to a new Ipsos/ Reuters poll, approximately 56% of GOP respondents believe the November results were due to illegal voting or election rigging. In addition, 61% of Republicans either strongly agree or somewhat agree that the election was actually stolen from the 45th president. These figures reflect the unserious and distracted nature of too many on the Right. In recent weeks, it has been made clear that deep loyalty to former President Donald Trump still exists within the ranks of the GOP. Rep. Liz Cheney s removal from House GOP leadership and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy s refusal to support a bipartisan Jan. 6 commission are just two examples.

Earlier this month Republican Maricopa County Supervisor Bill Gates wrote an op-ed for The Arizona Republic strongly defending the county’s election procedures and arguing against the unfounded conspiracy claims that led Republicans in the Arizona Senate to institute the sham audit at the state fairgrounds. Gates said in part, “As a lifelong Republican, I’m worried that my party of small government and balanced budgets is being overtaken by conspiracy enablers whose primary purpose is to promote the ‘Big Lie’ about the 2020 election.”
