A 32-year-old woman was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of abusing and killing her 4-year-old son in May, court documents said.
Michelle Denise Shirley was arrested after her son was found unresponsive inside her apartment near 83rd Avenue and Indian School Road and later admitted she abused and killed her son, court documents said.
On the morning of May 31, the stepfather called police after he found Shirley s son unresponsive inside the apartment. The boy was hospitalized but pronounced dead about 30 minutes after he was found unresponsive, court documents said.
An autopsy conducted on June 1 showed the boy had severe internal injuries such as a torn spleen, a lacerated liver and kidney, and broken ribs.
