Bharatt s body was found down a precipice in Aripo that day. - Angelo Marcelle Police were parked outside Randolph Bharatt s Arima home on Thursday after he returned from identifying his daughter Andrea Bharatt s remains in Aripo. Andrea Bharatt was abducted last Friday when she took an H-car with a friend after leaving her job as a clerk at the Arima Magistrates Court. Randolph Bharatt, a single parent, lived only with his daughter. When Newsday arrived at Bharatt s home, a plainclothes officer and an officer in uniform were in the yard and a jeep with another officer was parked outside on the street. Another journalist said there were more police officers outside the house before Newsday arrived.

Two kidnap suspects released

Two persons of interest in the kidnapping of Andrea Bharatt have been released by police. Guardian Media understands that the men, who both have the same first name and live in different areas of Arima, were released shortly after 6 pm, this evening. It was confirmed in a press release issued by attorney Fareed Ali, who is representing the persons of interest, ages 20 and 26. “The TTPS in examining the phone records of one of the male suspects were able to locate a female correspondent who was possession of an item that allegedly belonged to the missing Andrea Bharrath,” Ali said. Ali, who is also representing the woman, also said that another man was arrested allegedly through her direction. She remains in police custody.

PM makes plea for information to help find Andrea

Mark Bassant and Rishard Khan Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley yesterday pleaded with citizens to come forward with information on the kidnapping of Andrea Bharatt, 23, as he addressed a news conference in Port-of-Spain. “When these things happen there are people among us in the population who know what happened. And all I could say is that to whoever is listening – if you know something about this young lady and what is happening to her, just remember that the upholder is worse than the thief,” he said. Bharatt, a clerk attached to the Arima Magistrate’s Court was kidnapped after entering a what appeared to be a taxi – a white Nissan Versa. Since then four suspects were detained for questioning in her disappearance.
